In 2000, Kenwood produced a series of amateur radio transceiver, which are the TS-2000 series. This series of transceiver covers common frequency bands such as HF, WARC, VHF and UHF.
This series of transceiver equipment consists of three models: TS-2000, TS-2000X and TS-B2000. Among them TS-2000 is the basic model, it has built-in IF DSP, digital filter, automatic antenna tuner, TNC control interface, RS232 serial interface, memory automatic key controller, using temperature compensated crystal oscillator, improved Frequency stability. TS-2000 provides five antenna interfaces, two for HF and 6m band, one for VHF, one for UHF, and one HF receive antenna interface.
TS-2000 has 8 knobs and 55 buttons on the detachable panel. There are hundreds of computer commands for controlling the transceiver. With a 150-page manual, Anyone will have to spend some time to get to know it.
The IF-class DSP enables the TS-2000S to provide extremely low distortion and higher quality detection in all modes.
The built-in digital IF filter can be used in various modes and provides better performance than any filter with analog circuitry. The digital filter can use high cut and low cut frequency variance when operating in SSB/FM/AM mode. With slope tuning, you can eliminate noise with minimal impact on sound quality. In AM mode, high-cut frequencies reduce interference by controlling the IF passband—this is useful for receiving short-wave broadcasts. In CW mode, the WIDTH function is complemented by the center frequency shift, eliminating interference from adjacent signals. The WIDTH function also provides 4 steps of noise reduction in FSK: 250, 500, 1000 and 1500 Hz. Thanks to the AF-class DSP, the independent control of the high and low cut frequencies (12 steps each) also provides the slope tuning function in FM.
Beat interference cancellation
Automatic beat interference cancellation is available in the main band (SSB and AM modes), which eliminates multiple beats of the desired signal immediately. It works well with IF Auto Point Resistance (SSB).
The manual beat interference cancellation function operates as a manual AF point resistance and can be applied in all modes – it is especially effective in CW.
CW auto tuning function
There are two types of noise reduction: LEM (NR1) and SPAC (NR2). LEM (Line Spectrum Enhancement Method) can be used in all modes and sub-band FM/AM of the main band, which automatically forms the shape of the filter around the target signal to obtain a custom dynamic noise reduction capability. The degree of enhancement can also be manually set to use for the main band. The SPAC (Speech Processing/Autocorrelation) feature uses a special statistical/correlation algorithm to find weak signals that are deeply hidden in the noise. Although it is available for all modes on the main band, it is especially effective for poor CW conditions. The associated time setting can be adjusted in 10 steps between 2 and 20 milliseconds.
TX voice customization
There are 3 ways to customize the audio quality of the DSP: TX/RX equalizer (SSB/FM/AM), TX filter bandwidth (SSB/AM), and voice processor (SSB/FM/AM). The TX/RX equalizer provides four frequency response settings in SSB, FM, and AM: high frequency boost for improved sharpness, reduced resonant transmission of unwanted noise, bass boost for enhanced sound, and Get the regular mode of the "analog" sound. In SSB and AM transmissions, you can choose between 6 transmit filter bandwidth settings based on your microphone and operational needs. The speech processor operates between three bands (SSB, FM, and AM) to achieve high compression ratio and distortion minimization.
Dual channel observation
Primary and secondary band reception enables dual channel observation. The full-mode multi-frequency machine can receive two frequencies simultaneously, even if the frequency is in the same frequency band; therefore, it can use a combination such as HF+V/UHF, VHF+VHF, UHF+UHF and VHF+UHF (sub-band special use) For 144/440MHz reception on FM/AM). This means, for example, that during the HF run on the main band, you can receive local information on V/UHF.
Satellite operation is enhanced by IF-DSP, 10 dedicated memory channels, Doppler effect frequency adjustment (manual), and normal or reverse shifting of selected tracks.
High Duty Ratio transmit
This transceiver is the perfect choice for race, mobile and FSK applications with an output power of 100 (AM: 25) watts in the HF/50/144MHz band. The output power is 50 (AM: 12.5) watts in the 440MHz band and 10 (AM: 2.5) watts in the 1200MHz* band. The transceiver is not only powerful: its built-in TCXO ensures excellent frequency stability – ±0.5ppm (except FM mode). * The minimum output power is 5 watts in the HF/50/144/440MHz band and 1 watt at 1200MHz.
Automatic antenna tuner
The built-in antenna tuner covers the frequency range from 1.9 to 50MHz and can also be fast tune-locked when using presets; it can also operate when the radio is in receive mode.
There are 300 channels available, 290 of which can be assigned by name and the other 10 for programmable scanning. Scrolling allows you to browse the memory directory, a copy of the memory channel sends a channel directory to another channel, locks the memory to change the scan map to exclude certain channels, and a memory shift changes the frequency stored in a channel. In addition, there are 10 “fast” memories for instant capture of current operations – ideal for event operations.
Multiple frequency scanning
A comprehensive range of scanning features is available, including MHz scanning, memory scanning, and call scanning. The group scan mode covers all 300 memory channels in the 10 groups, and the programmable band scan searches for a frequency between the two VFO settings (scan hold function stops scanning for 5 seconds). One of the new features is programmable slow scan, which automatically performs a slow scan to see a range of frequencies that you are interested in. In addition to changing the scan speed, you can also select the busy-stop-restart mode of operation for timed operation (TO) or carrier operation (CO).
