Date:Sep 21, 2020

At the China International Trade in Services Fair held a few days ago, Wen Ku, director of the Information and Communication Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, said that the construction of 5G networks has been accelerating, and China has built more than 480,000 5G base stations; the number of 5G network terminal connections Continuously growing, at present, the number of 5G terminal connections has exceeded 100 million.

Despite the outbreak of the new crown virus pneumonia at the beginning of this year, it still did not stop the pace of China's 5G network construction. At present, the speed of 5G network construction by Chinese operators has far exceeded the target set at the beginning of the year. Previously, China Mobile announced that the number of 5G network base stations will increase by 50,000 compared to the original plan. It plans to open more than 350,000 by the end of the year, and the number of 5G users will exceed 100 million. At the same time, at the China Unicom 5G Network Industrial Internet Promotion Conference previously held, China Unicom Chairman Wang Xiaochu said that China Unicom is speeding up the joint construction and sharing with China Telecom, and it is expected to build 370,000 5G network base stations by the end of the year.

Currently, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen have already used 5G networks in multiple regions and are actively striving for full coverage. As of the end of July this year, Beijing has more than 24,000 5G network base stations and more than 3 million 5G users. It is planned to build more than 30,000 5G network base stations by the end of the year, and develop 5G users over 4 million, achieving continuous outdoor connections within the Fifth Ring Road and Beijing City Sub-center Coverage, key areas outside the Fifth Ring Road, and typical application scenarios are accurately covered; Shanghai has built 25,000 outdoor 5G base stations and 31,000 indoors, a total of 56,000; Guangzhou has built a total of over 28,000 5G network base stations, 5G users A total of more than 3 million households; Shenzhen also announced that it has entered the 5G network era, and said that it has built more than 46,000 5G base stations, and the number of 5G network users in Shenzhen exceeded 2.9 million.

In addition, the 5G network construction of prefecture-level cities in Shandong, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Anhui and other provinces has started, and local governments have issued corresponding policies to provide support for the development of 5G networks. For example, as of the end of July, all 16 cities in Shandong Province have launched 5G network construction, and the number of 5G base stations has exceeded 28,000. Jinan, Qingdao, and Yantai have basically achieved continuous coverage of key urban areas; as of June this year, Zhejiang has built 51 thousand 5G network base station.
