Recently, Kenwood, through its partner ABRADIO, provides NEXEDGE radio services to Górnośląskie Przedsiębiorstwo Wodociągów, the main Polish utility company. The digital cluster network also provides communication to the security and crisis management department of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice and the provincial ambulance service in Katowice.
Radios of the NX-3000 and NX-5000 series, which operate based on the NXDN digital protocol, ensure digital communications.
The digitalization of Silesia's radio communication system is based on the Kenwood NEXEDGE trunked communication system, which covers the entire province. There are currently 19 repeater stations operating in the radio system, and they can be expanded to include other repeater stations at any time. At the same time, in addition to the relay operation, the equipment used as terminal equipment (basic radio equipment and mobile radio equipment) also has the ability to operate in analog and digital modes in the frequency range of 136 to 174 MHz.
